ARTHUR BULL  - MUSICIAN
 
Arthur Bull (born 1950)
 
Arthur Bull is a guitarist who has been active on the improvised music scene in Canada since the mid-1970s. He is currently a member of Les Surruralistes (with Éric Normand), The Spokes (with Bob Vespaziani) and Monicker (with Roger Turner and Scott Thomson). In the past he was a member of the New Monday Orchestra, the Bill Smith Ensemble, Duck Soup  and several other groups. Arthur has released more than 20 CDs, including collaborations with Daniel Heïkalo, Bob Vespaziani, Hank Bull and John Heward.  He has performed in concert with many notable Canadian and international improvisers, including Roscoe Mitchell, John Tchicai, Peter Kowald, John Russell, Joe McPhee, Derek Bailey, Paul Rutherford, Phil Minton, John Butcher, Michael Snow, Paul Dutton, John Oswald, Fabrizio Spera, Mike Cooper and many others. In addition, he is an accomplished blues performer and songwriter. Arthur Bull is also a writer, and has published five books of poetry. Arthur Bull lives in Lake Midway, Nova Scotia, Canada.
